Howard Greager was born in 1924 in Placerville, Colorado,
where his father first ran a saloon and then turned cattle rancher. He spent
many years as a cowboy but, like his father, had to seek better paying jobs
when he married Betty (47 years ago) and their family of two boys and a
girl arrived. He started writing short stories for a newspaper in
1965 and then compiled those works and more for his first book, published
in 1990. Since then, he has put three more books on the market, all true
western history.
